DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP

Come spend one week aboard a 14-meter sailboat navigating the Greek islands of the Saronic Gulf and dive into the practice of handstands and inverted postures. Each person will work according to their level in order to understand the fundamentals of how to find balance upside down. We will work with Yoga asanas that allow us to understand the actions that hold our body upside down and in balance, as well as circus techniques.

The route

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN

  • Handstands and/or inverted multilevel practices.
  • Fundamentals and adjustments of asana for the understanding of the inverted postures.
  • Mobility and dissociation exercises.
  • Personalized teaching according to your level.
  • You will learn to get over your fear of inverted postures.
  • Basic notions of navigation and docking.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

To all those people who want to deepen their practice of handstands and inverted postures and are interested in the practice of Yoga asanas. With or without prior experience in these disciplines.

Professionals and movement lovers looking for great performance without sacrificing their body in the process.

MEET YOUR TEACHER

María Villater

María Villate has been a professional circus performer for over 15 years, specializing in handstand and contortion. In 2016 she was diagnosed with two lumbar hernias that forced her to stop her professional career. She then began to study and practice Iyengar Yoga, which together with her studies in biomechanics applied to Yoga has allowed her, 7 years later, to heal her injury, live without pain and understand how we should work to take care of our body and avoid injuries.

Her teaching method is the result of the fusion of professional circus technique and Iyengar Yoga alignment and she holistically focuses on respecting the body without losing sight of high sports performance.

*A max of 8 students in shared cabins.
*Students will have the chance to do a joint grocery shopping on the first day and choose if they want to cook on the boat. They will also have the option of eating at the local taverns, which by the way are very cheap!
